McCones harvest sweet potatoes

Charlie and Heidi McCone grew three varieties of sweet potatoes on a half-acre of sandy loam soil on their farm south of Sanborn this past summer. “It was a very good crop.  We had a lot of heat and humidity,” noted Charlie. This is the fourth year the McCones raised sweet potatoes; the first three years, basically, experimenting with different varieties and growing methods.   For story and pictures turn to feature on Page5 in this issue of the Springfield Advance-Press.
