School District offers historic house for sale
The Springfield School District recently purchased the historic Victorian style home with turret located at 321 West Central Street, just across the street, east of Springfield Public School. The district is advertising the house for sale — to be moved. The house was built in 1910, and was the home of Art and Lydia Kroening and family for many years. The apartment addition was built when the house was owned by Leo and Beebe Woehrmann; and during the past several decades had several owners and a number of occupants.
On the main floor of the house are living and dining rooms, kitchen, porch, turret room, pantry/closet, open staircase, wood fireplace and full bath. On the upper level are four bedrooms and full bath. A walk-up staircase leads to the attic. The two-apartment addition on the east side of the house does not have to be a part of the sale. Other detached buildings on the property are not a part of the listing. The house is to be moved by June 1, 2016. For more information or a showing, call Supt. Kottke at 507-723-4283 or keith.kottke@springfield.mntm.org.
Offers for the house are to be submitted to Superintendent Keith Kottke, re: Turret House Offer, Springfield Public School district, 12 South Burns Avenue, Springfield MN 56087. The school district retains the right to reject or refuse any offer.
