Springfield to tell The Christmas Story for the 31st season this weekend

Over the years, Christmas has inspired many authors to write about its spirit and significance. The spirit that embodies charity, forgiveness, friendship, unselfish love and generosity.

There is a treasury of Christmas stories out there — classic Christmas tales, stories of Christmas customs around the world, whimsical tales of Santa and his elves, and entertaining stories with glitter and glitz — in those Christmas stories we find many examples of what makes the Christmas Spirit so unique and special.  But the only one that has enduring appeal in its affirmation of unselfish love is the story of The First Christmas, a heartwarming story about sacrifice and the spirit of love.  At the very heart of Christmas is the story of the birth of Jesus — a story so beautiful and powerful that it has inspired more stories and more music than any other event in history.

And, so it is that the Springfield Area Nativity Theatre Association will retell the story of The First Christmas with a pageant under the stars in Riverside Park for the thirty-first season the evenings of Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, with one performance each evening at 7 o’clock.

The Springfield Nativity Pageant will retell the story that was written so simply and perfectly by Mathew and so masterfully by Luke.
