Elin Nelson was born Jan. 27, 1927, in rural St. James to Otto and Alfrida Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. Elin attended Becks Country School, Armstrong Elementary and St. James High School.  She was united in marriage to Harold Johnson on July 10, 1954. Her hard work ethic brought her to many kinds of employment. Nearly two decades as the laundress at Comfrey Public School provided the most enjoyment. She cherished the friendships built through her interaction with all the students, associates and faculty. She loved her extended school family.  Elin enjoyed gardening, embroidery, sewing, scenic drives, coffee with friends, associations through church, along with her many subscriptions to women's magazines. Her many pets over the years provided much companionship and enjoyment to her.

She resided at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield for the past four and a half years. The exemplary care was paramount in her great quality of life. She loved and respected the fine nursing assistants, nurses of 2 North and support staff there.

She lived a life that brought joy to all who knew her. Elin was always willing to extend a helping hand if she saw a need, provide support where it could be utilized and loved the simple pleasures that a small town and warm friends provided. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace ‘til we meet again, dear Mom, Aunt and Friend.

Sturm Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
