Lora Lee Timm-Knuth
Lora Lee Timm-Knuth was born on March 12, 1945, in Springfield to parents Clarence Frederick Wilhem Timm and Laura Ernestine (Trantow) Timm.
Lora Lee grew up on the family farm. Like most farm kids, she participated in the Burnstown Bustlers 4-H group, developing skills she would ultimately use in her chosen profession. Lora Lee graduated from Springfield High School in 1963 and then attended Mankato State University. She also obtained many additional credits from other universities. After graduating from MSU, she took her first teaching job in Elkton, MN. After teaching there for 7 months, she had an opportunity to teach in Worthington, where she remained for the rest of her teaching career. She taught Home Economics which included Personal and Family life and FACS classes. A career in teaching allowed her time to pursue her many other interests during the summer months as well as focusing on family. Her nieces all experienced quality time with Aunt Punkie!
Lora Lee married Dale H. Knuth on November 25, 1988, at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Their 25 years together were packed with a shared love of the lake, farming, gardening, and traveling.
Lora Lee always had some art project in motion, whether it was painting, sewing, handmade cards, quilting, or other needlework. And if she wasn’t in her craft room, she was in the kitchen prepping for another food event, canning seasonal jellies, or perfecting a family recipe. Her interests led her to be a member of many organizations including PEO-Chapter EJ, Red Hat Ladies, Garden Club, Church Women’s Circle and Legion Auxiliary. When it was time to travel, she wandered first to Haiti and then to Greece, South Africa, Alaska, Mexico and many other locations, as well as visiting family and friends anywhere in the US or going just across the border to the Black Hills to witness the Buffalo Roundup.
Lora Lee passed away at the age of 78 at Gianna Homes (Minnetonka) on January 13, 2024.
She is survived by her brother Rodney (Luisa) Timm and four nieces and their families: Dena (Kevin) Kuenzel and children, Emilie (Matt) Ward and Sarah (son Devin); Donna (Nick) Krueger and children, Karl and Lara; Lori Ann Timm (Patti Wheatley); Jennifer Staples and children Gemma and Ersel; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Lough.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Laura; husband, Dale; siblings, Maxine, Dorothy and Clarence Jr.
Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Worthington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial service following at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
