Springfield 10

Pipestone 3 

Springfield Post 257’s 18U baseball team earned a convincing 10-3 victory over Pipestone on Tuesday.

Pipestone struck first in the opening inning when Zayne Zollner singled to bring home one run. Springfield answered in the bottom of the second, taking the lead after Leo Hovland delivered an RBI single down the left-field line. A Pipestone error and a bases-loaded walk to Kadyn Anderson also brought home runs. 

Adiel Trevino earned the win on the mound for Springfield, allowing two hits and one run over three innings. He struck out four and walked one. Hovland added two scoreless innings in relief, allowing no hits while striking out two. 

Trevino also led Springfield with two RBIs and finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Eli Trevino recorded a team-high two hits in three at-bats. 

Springfield’s defense also turned one double play in the win.

Luverne 5 

Springfield Post 257’s 18U baseball team held off a late Luverne rally to earn a 6-5 victory Friday. 

Luverne took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a fielder’s choice by Jaxon Lais and an RBI single by Carter Sehr. 

Springfield answered in the bottom half of the inning. Adiel Trevino singled to drive in two runs, and another run scored on an error to give Post 257 a 3-2 lead. 

Springfield added three more runs in the second inning. Ely Streich delivered an RBI single to center field, Aiden Moriarty brought home a run on a groundout and Max Moriarty added an RBI single. 

Luverne narrowed Springfield’s four-run advantage late in the game, scoring on a single and a sacrifice fly, but Post 257 held on for the win. 

Eli Heglund pitched all seven innings for Springfield, allowing six hits and five runs, four earned. He struck out two and walked two. 

Trevino led Springfield with two RBIs. Streich, Aiden Moriarty, Trevino, Max Moriarty and Thomas Beers each recorded one hit.

Springfield 4

Sleepy Eye 12

Springfield Post 257’s 18U baseball team had a 12-4 loss to Sleepy Eye Senior Legion on Saturday. 

Springfield opened the scoring in the first inning when Adiel Trevino doubled to drive in two runs. 

Sleepy Eye moved ahead 4-2 in the top of the third inning. Merrick Mathiowetz hit a two-run double, and another run scored on an error. 

Trevino and Brayden Trapp each finished with two RBIs for Springfield. Ely Streich led Post 257 at the plate, going 2-for-4.
