Local Speech & Drama Students Attend SDSU Performance Camp

Seven students from Springfield High School attended a three-day performance camp last week hosted by South Dakota State University’s theatre department in Brookings.  College instructors and student performers who are a part of this summer’s Prairie Repertory Theatre lead the students in dance, musical theatre, and acting sessions. At the end of the last day, each student was involved in a final showcase performance that allowed family and friends to be an audience for the students’ work as they presented short “small group” scenes from the musical Frozen. In addition, the entire group of campers performed a couple of songs with choreography from the same musical. All campers had an opportunity to view the college summer theatre group’s grand production of Disney’s Broadway musical, Frozen, featuring over 40 students and professionals from around the US who have spent the summer in the program that produced two musicals and a comedy this year.
