Riverside Days plans proceed for 2016

Springfield Riverside Days will be celebrated June 23, 24, 25 and 26, 2016. During a meeting last Wednesday evening, volunteers proceeded with plans for the celebration.

There will be no carnival at this year’s celebration.  The Springfield Chamber of Commerce has developed a committee that is working to provide various games and entertainment for children in Riverside Park.

Springfield Community Theatre plans to bring the Minnesota Over 60s Band back to town for a concert in Brown’s Park the evening of Thursday, June 23.  An ice cream social in the park is also planned for that evening.

A parade is on the events schedule for Friday evening, June 24.  Events Saturday, June 25, include the annual Fun Run / Walk sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System in the morning; a pork chop feed, beanbag tournament, music and dancing sponsored by Springfield Fire Department; and the Springfield Sings talent show at LeBon Entertainment Center on Central Street in the evening.

Other events are tentative.
