Diane Nelsen DeMarco

Diane Nelsen DeMarco, age 74, of Frederick, MD was called home to begin her eternal life on February 15, 2026, in Port Charlotte, FL. 

Diane was born on June 19, 1951 in Springfield, MN to E. James and Phyllis (Krueger) Nelsen.  She grew up on a farm in Sundown Township. She attended a one-room country schoolhouse through sixth grade and graduated from Springfield High School in 1969.  Growing up she was active in her church and 4-H activities.  She also played flute in the band.  She graduated from Minnesota State University-Mankato with a BS degree in Journalism and Home Economics in 1974.  She furthered her education with graduate business classes at Mount Saint Mary’s College, MD. 

Diane worked in journalism early in her career.  She then served as head of many marketing and public relations teams, most notably in Minnesota at Nordic Track and Knutson Mortgage, and then as a Vice President with First Nationwide Mortgage, which landed her in Frederick, MD.  Eventually she formed her own company, Marketing @ Work. 

Diane was deeply devoted to and loved her family, community, friendships and faith.  She was very active in community organizations, charities and her church. 

Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her aunts Dorothy and Audrey.

She is survived by her husband, Attilio, daughter Serena (partner Ben); and son Severiano (partner Leah), sisters Colleen (James) Hayes, Janean (Terry) Tucker, brother Brian (Tamara) Nelsen; brother-in-law Louis (Cathy) DeMarco, and sister-in-law Nancy (Dom) Bulone; aunt Jeanette Jensen, and eight nieces and nephews.  

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD, followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepard Lutheran Church Capital Campaign Fund, to continue Diane’s mission of service.
