Dorothy Helen Turbes

Dorothy Helen Turbes, age 92, of Springfield, MN, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Sleepy Eye Rehabilitation Center . 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home Springfield Chapel and will continue on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Thursday at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery. 

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. 

Dorothy Schnobrich was born in Comfrey, MN on March 17, 1933, to Frank and Helen (Jenkins) Schnobrich. Dorothy lived with her family on a farm by Sanborn and attended Country School #71. She helped on the farm and then met and married Arnold Turbes on October 14, 1954. After their marriage, they lived in Springfield where she worked in the dietary department of the Springfield Hospital for 40 years until she retired in 1998. She enjoyed crochet, embroidery, fishing, reading, gardening and pulling weeds, cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She belonged to St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. 

She is survived by her daughters - Doreen Besse of Springfield, MN and Donitta (Kevin) Trebesch of Sleepy Eye, MN; grandchildren - Jeremy Besse, Duane (Lindsey DiMartino) Besse, Kory (Nikkie) Trebesch, and Kollin (Tessla) Trebesch; and a great grandchild - Seely Trebesch. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son David in 1981.
