Floyd Westerman
A Celebration of Life Service for Floyd Westerman, age 75, of Jeffers, was held at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey on Tuesday, September 9, at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in the Jeffers Cemetery.
Floyd Curtis Westerman was born on August 21, 1950, in Windom, Minnesota, to the late Lester and Bertha (LaMaack) Westerman. He was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Delafield Township and later confirmed in the faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. Floyd grew up in rural Storden and graduated from Jeffers Public School in 1968 before continuing his studies at Worthington Junior College.
On November 25, 1972, Floyd was united in marriage to Judy Wolff at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Forbes, North Dakota. They were blessed with one daughter, Samantha. The family lived for a short time in rural Storden before settling on their farm in Amboy Township near Jeffers. Pursuing his passion for agriculture, Floyd farmed the land for more than 50 years and worked as a road grader operator and milk truck driver, retiring in 2022. He served his community as a supervisor and chairman on the Amboy Township Board and as a volunteer with the Jeffers Fire Department for many years. Beyond farming, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was always ready to tackle a project that needed fixing.
On September 2, 2025, Floyd passed away peacefully at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, Minnesota.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Judy Westerman of Jeffers; daughter, Samantha (Aaron) Tomschin of Springfield; siblings, Jim (Mary) Westerman of Storden, and Karen (Steve) Gempler of Meridian, ID; sister-in-law, Cheryl Westerman of Harrisburg, SD; brother-in-law, Anthony Wolff of Halstad; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
