Verne F. Schmitz

Verne F. Schmitz, 83, of Cokato, MN, formerly of Springfield, passed away on October 8, 2020, surrounded by family.  

Mass of Christian burial will be August 19, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waverly, MN. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:15 a.m. prior to Mass.   Private interment in Iowa at a later date.

Verne was born September 28, 1937 to Ralph and Loyola (Filzen) Schmitz in Springfield.  Verne and Monica (Goche) Schmitz were united in marriage on January 15, 1963.  They were blessed with four children:  Lee, Daphne, Vonnie, and Lonn. 

Verne is survived by son Lee Schmitz, children Logan, Layton; daughter Daphne Schmitz; daughter Vonnie (Curtis) Wareham, children Skyler (Tara), Calli, Caden; son Lonn (Michele) Schmitz, child Elijah; sisters Gladys Feser, Bonnie (Jim) Schumacher; brother David (Linda) Schmitz; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Verne was preceded in death by wife Monica; son-in-law Behzad “Ben” Sheikhpour; parents Ralph and Loyola Schmitz; parents-in-law Walter and Adeline Goche; brother Floyd and wife Marilyn Schmitz; brother Dennis and wife Mary Schmitz; brother-in-law Richard Feser.
