Messages Every Child Needs to Hear

Kids need words that build confidence, strengthen resilience and remind them that they are deeply loved.  These messages can be spoken during everyday conversations, at bedtime, on the way to school, or after a difficult day.  Every child deserves to hear the following messages again and again.

I’m proud of you.  I am proud of you and the ways you are growing and learning.  You don’t have to be the best, win every competition, or get everything right.  My love for you isn’t based on achievements.  It is based on you.

Tomorrow is a new day.  Everyone has days when nothing seems to go right, but tomorrow is a new chance.  Every day brings new opportunities, new choices and a fresh start.  Be kind to yourself.  You are still growing, learning, and figuring things out.

Be yourself.  Don’t spend time wishing you were someone else.  There are many people in the world, but there is only one you.  Your ideas, talents, and personality are gifts that are uniquely yours.  The world needs what you can offer.

You can always talk to me.  Even when the conversation is difficult, or your words aren’t perfect, I’m here to listen.  Tell me about your happy moments, your confusing moments, and the things you don’t understand.  We will figure it out together.

Treasure the ordinary days.   Some of your best and happiest moments won’t come from the big events.  They will be found in everyday conversations, family traditions, simple adventures and time spent with the people you love.

The messages we share with our kids become the voices they carry with them throughout life.  Our words have the power to shape a child’s heart long after the conversation ends.  Encouraging words help kids believe in themselves and face challenges with confidence.  Consistent messages of love, hope, and acceptance give kids a priceless gift that will be with them throughout their lives.
