National Honor Society

National Honor Society welcomes thirteen new members

Thirteen students at Springfield High School were inducted into the National Honor Society during a ceremony in the school auditorium the evening of March 23. They join the returning 13 members of Springfield’s NHS.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization for high school students in the United States which consists of many chapters in high schools. Selection is based on four criteria: leadership, scholarship, character and service.

In order to be inducted into the National Honor Society, Springfield High School students must go through an application process. To be considered for membership, the applicant must have maintained a 3.5 grade point average. Students who have maintained this average complete an application form listing all the activities and service projects in which they have been involved during their years at SHS. The applications are reviewed by the faculty for evidence of leadership, service, character, and scholarship.
