Hall of Famer shares love and gratitude for the game

“Thanks to the Good Lord for the blessings in my life, family, friends, health and baseball,” exclaimed Dale “Lumber” Lindmeier at the beginning of his speech during his induction into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.

Lindmeier’s love of the game has been unwavering. It began when he was just six playing catch in the backyard with his brother Wayne. In 5th grade he played in Springfield Little League and later played Jr. Bi-County, Bi-County, high school, and legion baseball.  He played all positions except catcher but was primarily known as a tough right-handed pitcher who also hit .324 for his high school career.

After graduating high school in 1974, Dale went on to play amateur baseball for the Springfield Tigers for nine seasons from 1974-1982.

Lindmeier has always loved the competitiveness of the sport. “I love when there’s one-on-one battles throughout the whole game, like pitcher-batter, catcher-baserunner and outfielders-baserunners,” stated Lindmeier adding that he also loves how the one-on-one battles evolve into an entire team performance.
