 The Cedar Mountain-Comfrey-Springfield Track Team wrapped up its 2016 season in impressive fashion at the State Track Meet at Hamlin University last Saturday, June 10.  

The 4x200m relay team of Irene Anderson, Kylee Wells, Joci Nestande and Vishe Rabb nearly claimed a state championship but had to settle for 2^nd place behind a good Blue Earth Area team.  The girls had the 4^th fastest qualifying time heading into the state meet but struggled in Friday’s preliminaries as they ran the 7^th fastest qualifying time for Saturday’s final.  The girls saved their best race for last as they crushed their school record time of 1:46.38 and finished in 2^nd place with a new record time of 1:45.04.

Vishé Rabb competed in the finals of the Class A 400m dash.  She set a new CMCS record on Friday in the preliminaries with an impressive 57.27.  In the finals, Vishé came off the final turn tied for 1^st and battled down the home stretch with Chloe Bermel of Pequot Lakes.  The two girls were neck and neck until Bermel pulled ahead with 30 meters to go and held off Vishe to win the Class A State Championship and claim a new all time Class A record in the event (55.67).  Vishé finished in 2^nd place with an impressive new school record of 56.44.  Rabb also competed in the finals of a very loaded field of 200m runners and finished in 9^th place.    On Friday, she also competed in the high jump, finishing in 10^th place (4’11”).

In addition to starting the 4x200m relay, Irene Anderson competed in the 100m and 300m hurdle races.  In Friday’s preliminaries, Irene broke her own school record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.36 to earn the final qualifying spot for Saturday’s final where she finished in 7^th place.  Unfortunately, Anderson was unable to make the finals in the 300m hurdles, finishing in 11^th place in the preliminaries with a time of 47.25.  Irene also competed in the triple jump and came into the meet seeded 15^th.  She jumped a personal best (34’10 ¼”) to qualify for finals but finished one spot shy of the medal stand with a 10^th place performance.

The girls team  finished in 11^th place with 24 team points.  Minneapolis Edison won the Class A State Meet Title with 46 points followed by Blake School (42) and Pequot Lakes (37).

The boy’s 4x800m relay team of Dylan Nachreiner, Andrew Nachreiner, Logan Kelly and Russell Lumbar competed in the finals on Saturday and finished in 14^th place with a time of 8:31.57.  Fairmont won the Class A Championship in the 4x800m relay with a time of 8:09.04.
